“Discord in the event of data breaching has notified its users that happened after the account of a third-party support company was compromised. Discord is a voice, video, and text communication service used by more than a hundred million people across the world.”

Data breaching has become a common event nowadays as there are multiple ways hackers can access someone’s account online. This time an instant messaging platform is the victim.

Discord in the event of data breaching has notified its users that happened after the account of a third-party support company was compromised. Discord is a voice, video, and text communication service used by more than a hundred million people across the world.

The data breach allowed hackers to enter the agent’s support ticket queue, which included user’s messages exchanged with Discord support, their email addresses, and any attachments sent as part of the tickets.

Discord said in letters sent to affected users, “Due to the nature of the incident, it is possible that your email address, the contents of customer service messages and any attachments sent between you and Discord may have been exposed to a third party. As soon as Discord was made aware of the issue, we deactivated the compromised account and completed malware checks on the affected machine.”

The voice and text messaging social platform said it instantly addressed the breaching issue that occurred in the support agent’s account  and it disabled it once the incident was discovered.

They also collaborated with the customer service partner to put in place effective preventative measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.

If you were affected by the Discord data breach, keep an eye out for any unusual behaviour, such as scams or phishing attacks. Although Discord believes the risk is low, it is best to be cautious.

Furthermore, according to the company’s website, Discord has 19 million active servers weekly.
